Father's Day is coming around quickly. Sunday the 21st of June, in case it had slipped your mind.
I know how hard it can be to buy for dads. My own children and my wife will tell you I'm one of the harder ones to shop for, which isn't entirely fair given that I spend my days making half the things people typically give as gifts for men. It doesn't help them much. But it might help you.
I've been making leather goods here in Dingle since 1989. Bags, belts, wallets, journals—everything is handmade at our workshop on the Slea Head Drive. Many of our pieces have been given as Father's Day gifts over the years, and it's common to hear that items we made ten, fifteen, or even twenty years ago are still being used. That's the mark of quality leather.
Here are a few of our favourite leather Father's Day gifts for dads in Ireland, if you want to give something that truly lasts.
The Belt

If I'm being honest, I'd start here.
Most dads don't think to buy themselves a really good leather belt. They keep wearing the same one for years, even when it's time for a new one, and rarely replace it. That's exactly what makes it a great gift.
Our belts are handmade in the workshop from hand-selected vegetable-tanned Italian leather, with a solid brass roller buckle in a satin nickel or brass finish. They come in dark brown, brown, chestnut, and black. Some of our customers have been wearing their Holden belts for twenty years and more. That's the kind of thing that makes the work feel worthwhile.
If your dad is hard to buy for, a belt is a solid place to start.
The Wallet

A wallet is used every single day. That's quite a lot of contact with something you're choosing to give him. It's worth getting right.
The Holden 8 Card Wallet holds eight cards and has a full-length note compartment. It's made from Italian natural grain leather. It keeps things simple, holds its shape, and breaks in nicely over time, developing a look that's unique to him. After ten years in a pocket, a wallet looks completely different from when we first made it. That's not a flaw—it's the point.
The Journal

For the dad who writes things down, plans ahead, or has a healthy distrust of anything digital, a leather journal is a quietly personal gift.
OurHolden Refillable Wraparound Journal in black is made from vegetable-tanned full-grain leather with stitched details. Available in A4 and A5 and they accommodate a standard A4/A5 refill. This journal will stay on his desk long after the first pages are filled and replaced. We've made many of these over the years, and some have traveled to some interesting places.
If You're Not Sure: Gift Vouchers
There's nothing wrong with this option. If your dad is particular about what he carries, a Holden gift voucher gives him the chance to choose for himself, or put it toward a workshop experience if he'd like to try his hand at making something.
Vouchers start at €50, are delivered by email, and carry no additional fees. A Holden voucher isn't a last-minute fallback. It's an invitation to come and pick something he'll actually love. For a lot of people, that's the best gift of all.
Not Sure Where to Start? We Can Help.
We offer something most leather brands don't. If you want a personal recommendation based on your dad's style and what he uses every day, you can book a short online shopping session with us through our Calendly link. We'll look at the options together and help you find the right gift.
It only takes about [10] minutes and is completely free. We're a small workshop, not a call center, so you'll get a real response from us.
A Note on Personalisation
We offer on selected pieces. It adds something genuinely considered to an already thoughtful gift.
If you want personalisation on your order, please contact us. For standard orders in Ireland, you can place orders by Wednesday the 17th for Father's Day delivery.
Why Handmade Leather Gifts Last
Full-grain leather doesn't wear out; it wears in. It softens with use, picks up some color, and slowly takes on the shape of its owner. After fifteen years of daily wear, a belt looks completely different from when it left our workshop. That's not a flaw; it's exactly what we want.
We've been making things here in Dingle since 1989. We get to spend our days doing slow, careful work in a place that still feels like itself. What more could you ask for?
If you want a leather gift for your dad this Father's Day—something he'll use every day and still have in ten years—you're in the right place.
